Profile:

“Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University is the first modern university of Romania, founded in 1860. Today it has about 40,000 students and it is for the last three years qualified as the best University in the country as concerning the international visibility of the scientific research. The UAIC-CARPATH group is recognized as a centre of excellence in scientific research at the national level. The group is also the main element in the Interdisciplinary Research Platform for molecular nanotechnologies (AMON).

Main interest areas in the Center for Applied Research in Physics and Advanced Technologies are:

  • Modeling and simulation
  • Magnetism and magnetic materials
  • Dielectrics, ferroelectrics and multiferroics
  • Plasma technological applications
  • Nanosciences and biotechnologies

The UAIC-CARPATH group has experience in:

  • Micromagnetic modeling of magnetic materials and devices (micro and nanoparticulate media, nanowire systems, exchange bias materials, transport phenomena in nanoparticulate media, MRAMs)
  • Simulation of hysteresis (ferromagnetic, ferroelectric, thermal, light induced, pressure hysteresis) and of other complex processes in multiferroic materials (First and second-order Reversal Curves – FORC, SORC)
  • Simulation of dynamic processes in magnetic materials (methods: LLG, stochastic LLG, Ising, Monte-Carlo)
